The Guitar Zeros, Band Brings Guitar Hero Music To Rock God Level
The Guitar Zeros are a band of guys who plays songs from as you guess it, Guitar Hero guitars. They have turned the Les Paul replica to a real musical instrument by using their open-source music software called FRETBUZZ on a normal computer. Kewl.

Initially fascinating, but it’s ultimately ridiculous. Why go through so much trouble programming software for the plastic axes when one can play or learn actual instruments? Who knows? They might actually be musical savants and they don’t even know it.
The group admitted they are a novelty band, so don’t expect immortality here.
And FYI, they sound terrible. The guitarist tries to play solos, but it’s completely out of tune. The notes don’t even correspond with the power chords.
Guitar Zeros is an apt name.

yeah seriously, how dare these guys even try to do something creative and weird. Mike, you’re definitely right, they should learn to play “real” instruments like the skin flute… or djembe drums.

Tell me, Johnny G., what’s so musically creative in what they do? Granted, FRETBUZZ is rather imaginative.
But to expend all that brain power to make the software for programming plastic instruments to sound (kinda) like real instruments, versus learning to play real instruments that do the same thing?
Let me tell you: it takes much longer to learn and master software engineering compared to learning to play a real guitar. I’ve done both. And yes, it’s way easier to learn chords and scales than Boolean logic (among other programming topics).
Rockband and Guitar Hero were never meant to substitute playing real instruments, but this clip shows us otherwise.
There is more admiration now for gamers that excel in GH instead of really good guitar players (See Southpark). If you think this pseudo band is “creative,” then you should think again.
They’re dumbing down playing real instruments.
