Outside GameCube, Inside Wii at E3

by Patrick on May 20th, 2006

The “Nintendo GameCube disguising as Wii at E3” speculation was true after all. Nintendo has confirmed that they did use black GameCube housing at E3. However, the hardware inside these GameCubes was that of Wii and was not the final, grand version. If you were expecting a manifestation of impressive, HD, out-of-this-world graphics for the final Wii, PR Manager of Nintendo of America, Matt Atwood, explained…

“For some of the games that you’ve seen, the focus for them was not graphics at all, and so by design they were made to have a very broad appeal to them — something that even your non-gamers can understand.”

Really, I’m not going for the graphics but the different gaming experience Nintendo Wii can provide at the end of the day, as compared to Xbox 360 and PS3. And I believe Nintendo will make Wii games and gameplay simple enough for my 75-year-old Grandma to master and beat me.
