Gaming Terms for Noobs: Noob
How can we kick off the “Gaming Terms for Noobs” series without addressing one of the VIT (Very Important Terms) in the gaming context? We’ll look at the naked bare minimum of each gaming term mentioned so that you can start using within 10 seconds after reading. Of course, some terms carry negative connotation or are actually insults. Use them at your discretion.
Defintion of Noob
A newbie (also spelled noob, newb, or n00b in the leetspeak of internet culture) is a to a particular field, the term being commonly used on the internet, where it might refer to new users of a game, a newsgroup, the World Wide Web itself, or an operating system.
Noob As an Insult
Noob (n00b- 00 are two zeros) is actually an insult. You can say someone is a noob (in gaming) when he or she is…
- Extremely annoying
- Breaking game rules (even the basic ones)
- Displaying poor or no sportsmanship (e.g. disconnects from a game when he knows he has no chance of winning)
- Killing everyone he can see (including his team mates)
- Using cheats, hacking programs, most powerful weapon of the game or simply wasting other players’ time by doing unproductive work
- Seeing himself as an expert (boasting comes with it) which in reality, he is nothing
- Impersonating as a moderator or maker of the game or trying to date every girl character he can lay his eyes or hands on (sexually inclined?)
Is Newbie same as Noob?
Newbie usually refers to newcomers but noob can mean someone who exhibits the above behaviour, regardless if they were newcomers.
Definition of Noob Talk
Noob talk is when an individual uses harsh spelling errors and terrible punctuation to insult noobs.
Example of Real Noob Talk
OMFG! lololol, jajjaja everione h3r3 suk!!!! (Translated to Everyone in the game sucks)
There you are, gaming terms are not hard to learn but it does take a lifetime to master (I can do a thesis on it). Most importantly, remember to play fair and sometimes, there are actually noobs who keep calling you noobs. In this case, just ignore them, mute them or simply join another game, don’t waste your time and energy on these low-level creatures or real noobs. *Wink*

n00bs are fun to mess aroud with because they always cry when i kill them simaltaneously(at the same time). I learn to just keep killing them until they leave the game but some fun comebacks are as followed. n00b:omfgz your a noob how do u suck so bdly?!!??!?!! Me: uHHHH IDK m bff jill?!?!?! 4 real, instead of just terms for noobs, there should be a book like “Gaming Terms for Dummies.” I have a friend that wanted to buy a gift for her grandson and thought she’d ask me what to get. I spouted off a list and *deer caught in the headlights look* she said WTF? lol no, i had to start with terms to explain, then I gave up and just wrote it down and said, “ask them for this.” ……*cut to me writing Barbie at Princess Island*
