WTH! Gaming Terms for Noobs? Me?

by Patrick on May 4th, 2006

We all know at some point of time that someone has called you a “noob” when you are playing Gunbound, World of Warcraft or any other game that usually requires an internet connection or maybe your little brother has owned you in Dead or Alive 4 using some cheapie techniques and he responded with “Haha…Noob.” You think is pretty offensive, isn’t it?

But do you really understand the term “n00b”? or what is it? Really.

One day, I was sitting with my gal friend in Starbucks and fantasizing Desperate Housewives drinking coffee. Nothing to do so I just asked her:

Are you a noob in FPS?

And she stared back at me as if I’m transparent or rather non-existent, obviously without giving any reply.

She innocently questioned:

What’s noob?

I realized that there are people who are playing Xbox, Xbox 360 or any other gaming console in their homes and don’t have a clue in some gaming terms. And I thought of dishing out some info on these gaming terms or slang and call this series as “Gaming Terms for Noobs”. No offense here, as the term “noob” used in the title doesn’t carry any negativity and I’m also a “noob” learning with you together.

Therefore for the next few years days, there will be posts on these common gaming terms for you to know and erm, use on your little brother. Muhahahaha. Pardon me.

i just wanted 2 say that n00bs are often called fr00bs after a while, which tottaly changed the terms of n00bs. i call people on WoW n00bs when they are using free trial accounts and pwning other ppl and calling them n00bs. thats n00bish. anyways, back to n00b. n00b basiclly refers to nooby, bak to newbie, which indicates it in the first three letters of newbie, NEW. it means your learning or your just plain new. i call ppl n00bs whenevr i feel like it tho XD. thanks for reading.
